Muscat: The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Bangkok has advised Omani citizens travelling to Thailand that new regulations allowing airport authorities to inspect checked baggage without the passenger’s presence will come into effect on October 16, 2026.

Under the new regulations introduced by Thailand’s Civil Aviation Authority, prohibited items discovered during inspections, including flammable materials and power banks, will be confiscated without the right to reclaim them.

The inspection process will be documented on video, and an official notice will be left inside the baggage.

The embassy urged citizens to use internationally recognised TSA-approved locks and avoid placing valuables or important documents in checked baggage.

Omanis are advised to refer to the accompanying images for further information and guidance.
